Dear Friends of NCFASD Informed:
This is a stressful time in the world, first with COVID-19 and the changes this has brought to all aspects of everyday life. This has been compounded by the racial tensions spawned by police brutality and murders throughout the country. And we know caregivers of loved ones with an FASD are often operating in crisis mode, if not more than average stress in their households. Please know that we stand by each of you during these tumultuous times and let us know how we can support you.
Due to the COVID crisis, we are taking new approaches to our mission of informing North Carolina about FASD.
First, our podcast series: We are thrilled that our new series has been a huge success (ranked in the top 100 in health & fitness/mental health categories on Apple which has thousands of mental health podcasts), thanks to our producer and host, Natalie Vecchione, Board member. You can find the podcasts on the following platforms: Podbean, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, and Stitcher. Type in the keyword FASD Informed; new episodes will be released on a regular basis. You will find information including FASD 101, diagnostic procedures, programs that work for our loved ones, young adults talking about their paths to success, the importance of advocating, among many other topics to come.
Secondly, we will begin offering virtual caregiver support groups every month for caregivers throughout the state. If you are interested in these free groups, please contact me at kathy.hotelling@ncfasdinformed.org and I will send you a Zoom link. The first group will be Thursday, July 2nd at 8pm. Zoom is a free app for your computer or phone, although it is easier to use on a computer in my opinion.
We would really appreciate any help you can give us, specifically in the following areas:
· Tell your family, friends with loved ones with FASD, clients, and colleagues about our resources.
· Help us get the word out about the virtual group; we are each more and more isolated the longer COVID-19 spreads.
· Ask others to sign up for our newsletters to learn about new initiatives of NCFASD Informed.
· Remember us when you order on Amazon…..go to if you do not have a favorite charity.
· Find us on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.
With Hope,
Kathy Hotelling
