2019 has been a very successful year for NCFASD Informed, dedicated to empowering individuals impacted by prenatal alcohol exposure through the creation of FASD informed communities. Our free September conference, FASD: Building Understanding and Coalitions, was attended by over 120 attorneys, social workers, GALs, state officials, parents, disability advocates, psychologists, and others who were impressed by the presenters and the wealth of practical and useful information they received. There were many positive outcomes of the conference. Some of those are in the early stages of implementation, while one had immediate and widespread exposure: Criminal Justice and FASD
Other activities included presentations to various professional and parent groups, including two sessions at the NC Exceptional Children's Conference; three day FASCETS training (neurobehavioral approach to FASD) for parents; four successful fundraisers during September; and features in the Cardinal Innovations Healthcare communications. More mission driven work such as these activities is needed. We need your help in order to do this! Please consider a Giving Tuesday (December 4) or end of the year tax deductible gift to NCFASD Informed to assure that our important work continues. On behalf of our children, our families, and all those touched by someone with an FASD, we thank you for your support. Happy Holidays,
NCFASD Informed Board |
