Dear Friends,
Did you know that prenatal exposure to alcohol the leading cause of intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States?
In fact, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), the umbrella term for these neurodevelopmental disabilities, is more prevalent than autism, cerebral palsy, and Down's syndrome.
But the range of symptoms is broad and overlaps with mental health diagnoses, so kids and adults with FASD are often misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all.
NCFASD Informed is a grassroots 501c3 nonprofit organization on a mission to create FASD-informed communities in North Carolina and to empower individuals impacted by prenatal exposure to alcohol.
Since we incorporated in 2018, we’ve educated countless parents, teachers, attorneys, and health care professionals, as well as connecting FASD-impacted families to helpful resources through podcasts, events, support groups, newsletters and more.
We need your help to continue our progress.
On Giving Tuesday, December, help us continue informing North Carolinians about FASD and improving the lives of those affected.
