Becoming FASD informed - September 2019
September is Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
September 9th is celebrated annually as International FASD Awareness Day to promote education and awareness efforts on FASD. More recently, the month of September has been designated as FASD Awareness Month.
While there is no cure, as with other developmental disabilities, early intervention treatment services and family support have been shown to improve the lives of those impacted by prenatal exposure to alcohol.
Despite myths and misconceptions, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is no "safe" amount to drink while pregnant.
